Bible Blessings® knows the wonderful responsibility of Christian Gifts

Family Christian Stores
Bible Blessings® knows Christian gifts come with great responsibility. Being a Christian is not always easy in today’s world, and it is important to remember why we are blessed with the many Christian gifts bestowed upon us because of our faith and belief in our religion.

Finding Blessings and Gifts in unexpected places

Joshua and Caleb faced formidable foes in the Promised Land, and yet what was their response to their enemies? “They are bread for us” Numbers 14:9.
What is bread? It is the staff of life. What happens when you eat bread? You are strengthened by it and you grow by it.

Paul also faced formidable foes. In Corinthians we read Paul’s words: “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries” 1:16:9.
Why don’t gifts come easy to those that believe in Christianity? Because if they were easy, then you would become weak in your effort to work out your faith in God and would be less appreciative of the gifts you do receive. God places obstacles in your path to give you strength.

“Wheaties” is not the breakfast of champions— giants are. God wants you to face your difficulties head-on and depend upon Him to make you a conqueror.
What does it take to strengthen your body? What does it take to build your intellect? What does it take to grow love in relationships?

Indeed, God does amazing and unexplainable things, but there will come a time – or it may have already transpired – when you realize that Christianity doesn’t immediately solve all your problems. Illnesses don’t always go away. Broken relationships don’t always get better. Your income doesn’t miraculously improve thanks to a big fat monetary gift in the mail. Simply put, troubles don’t just up and disappear.

So what does it take? Work. Hard work and a commitment to your faith and sharing your faith. Remember the words in Philippians 2:12-13: “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

Christian Gifts you don’t have to give up for Lent

Family Christian Stores
Christian Gifts
One of the many Christian gifts we cherish is Easter and the weeks leading up to it. Ash Wednesday occurred last week, signaling the beginning of Lent. So what Christian gifts have you given up for Lent?

Giving up for Lent
Many Christians feel they have to give up something for Lent and end up giving up something that has very little impact on their lives. In the end, we end up giving up something for Lent for all the wrong reasons.

Instead of giving up a gift you cherish, considering giving up one of these five things:

  1. Self-doubt – As you believe it, so shall it be. Let go of the self-doubt and believe God has a plan for you that is beyond anything you could imagine. Remember what is said in Timothy: For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7
  2. Self-pity – Hebrews 13:5 tells us, “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” God comforts us in our sorrow so that we can comfort others with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
  3. Blame – Don’t pass the buck; take responsibility for your actions. Romans tells us, And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
  4. Gossip and Negativity – A waste of time and energy, let go of idle and meaningless gossip and negativity. Proverbs plainly states, Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler. Proverbs 20:19
  5. Comparison – You have your own unique contribution to make and there is no one else like you. Remember this verse: Galatians 6:4 - But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

This is a season of reflection. The gifts you have been given by God are yours to share. Lent is more than a time to give up one of your cherished gifts. It is a time to give up and let go of the doubt and negative energies in your life and focus on sharing your spiritual gifts with others.

Bible Blessings® Christian Gifts Ring True with Millennials

Bible Blessings® Christian Gifts Ring True with Millennials
Bible Blessings® Christian Gifts wants to know, if you’re part of the millennial generation (born in the early 1980s to mid-1990s), what message do you want to send to people to convey who you are and what you value? How do you share your Christian gifts in a world that sometimes seems hostile towards Christianity?

How Millennials View Religion

In an article published in just the last few years, a young author lamented the fact that she felt she had to hide her religious beliefs from some of her friends. Unfortunately, the young woman is not alone when it comes to her beliefs. A recent study revealed some interesting statistics about millennials’ attitudes regarding religion:
  • 6 out of 10 millennials dropped out of church at some point
  • 49% choose a church because they enjoy the preaching and teaching
  • 63% would leave a church because they disagree with the teaching
  • Only 1 in 10 attend church because they feel a need to be a part of community

How Millennials View Their Role in Society

Conversely, a Gallup poll found that today’s young people tend to be more traditional in both lifestyle and values than their parents. Today’s young people are far less likely to engage in unhealthy habits such as smoking and drinking alcohol. They also are more likely to wait to have sex until they get married.

How Millennials Share Their Gifts

The millennial generation tends to feel a deeper sense of social responsibility. They want to not only engage in volunteer activities, but also want to purchase products and services from companies that practice corporate responsibility – both for the environment and for their communities. Millennials share their spiritual gifts through their purchases and through their pay it forward lifestyle. Today’s millennial appears destined to make a strong impact on religion and spirituality in the decades ahead.

You Can Have The Christian Gifts You Want - If You "Get Understanding"

Bible Blessings
Christian gifts in today’s society sometimes feel like they’re hard to come by. Not everyone understands how to find or even recognize the Christian gifts that are all around them. How do you find them? It’s quite easy once you understand how to “get understanding.”

Wisdom is the principle thing, according to Proverbs. Once you get that, you’ll be able to get understanding and appreciate the Christian gifts that are all around you. Follow these six principles to get understanding:
  1. Don’t worry, be happy – Seriously! If you’re doing your best, you have to trust in your faith and know that you will be rewarded.
  2. Don’t hurry – Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity. Take your time, do it right, and reap the benefits.
  3. Pay it forward – Have you heard the phrase “It is better to give than to receive?” It actually is quite true. The next time you are in line at a drive-thru, pay for the order of the person behind you. Stop by your local animal shelter and drop off a few bags of dog or cat food. Patronize businesses that also practice paying it forward.
  4. Believe in the impossible – As you think it, so shall it be. What do you dream of doing? What is on your "bucket list" that you never thought you could accomplish? Your faith, your patience, and your confidence will guide you to achieve your dreams, your goals, and ultimately will help you live a more fulfilling life.
  5. Clear the clutter – Put first things first. Don’t waste your time on trivial matters. Focus on what needs to be done, what can be done, and then work to accomplish those tasks.
  6. Remember, “If it’s to be, it’s up to me” - Don't think that good intentions are an acceptable excuse for doing nothing. Examine your life; are you a "talker" or a "doer?" Get specific about your diet and your devotions, your finances and your family, etc. According to the Bible, “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2:17

To get understanding is to gain the knowledge and the wisdom to find and cherish the gifts that are all around you in everything you do. Practice these six principles and you will quickly learn how to appreciate those gifts along with joy in many aspects of your everyday life.

Expressing the gifts of God’s love through the jobs of one Christian

Christian gifts jobs

One of the jobs of any Christian throughout history has been to share his or her gifts of faith and blessings with other human beings. Rooted in Christianity, Valentine’s Day exemplifies one Christian man’s dedication to fulfilling one of his jobs of sharing the gifts of God’s love.

Many stories abound regarding the origins of Valentine’s Day. One of the earliest details the life of a Roman Priest named Valentine who lived during the reign of Emperor Claudius II.

One of Valentine’s jobs, or gifts as he believed, was to perform weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry. Emperor Claudius believed that a married man did not make a good soldier.

Furthermore, Christianity was outlawed during Claudius’ reign and anyone caught spreading God’s word were persecuted. Valentine was no exception.  Upon learning of the services he was performing throughout Rome, Claudius had Valentine arrested and attempted to persuade him to convert to Paganism. Valentine refused and was sentenced to die.

The Miracle of a Saint and his Gifts of Love

The night before his execution, Valentine continued performing one of the most important jobs of his life: spreading the word of God. It is reported that Valentine healed the blind daughter of his jailer, Asterius. So impressed by Valentine’s gifts of healing his daughter and giving her the ability to see, Asterius and his entire household converted to Christianity.

Cards and Hearts and Expressions of Faith

Providing jobs for millions of greeting card writers and heart-shaped box makers are the reasons many people think Valentine’s Day exists. On the contrary, there are reports that Valentine, while performing marriage ceremonies for Roman soldiers, would give them hearts cut from parchment paper to remind them of their vows and God’s love.

In addition, the night before his execution, Valentine was said to have penned the first Valentine’s card in the form of a letter to the daughter of his jailer, Asterius, which he signed from “Your Valentine.” This is believed to be the origin of the expression “From Your Valentine.”

This story of St. Valentine represents just one example of what happens when a person dedicates his life to sharing the blessings of God and Christianity. Remember to share your faith with the ones you love, not just on Valentine’s Day, but every day.
