The secret to quality Christian gifts that inspire successful relationships

Inspire successful relationships with quality Christian gifts
Quality Christian gifts inspire successful relationships. When it doesn’t always seem possible, how do you provide the quality Christian gifts needed to help your relationship thrive and succeed?

The right kind of quality Christian gifts

Too often today, people think they have to show their love by buying expensive gifts for their significant other. Who among us hasn’t seen that guy or girl frantically running around on Valentine’s Day in search of the “perfect” gift for his or her significant other?

The amount of money you spend has nothing to do with quality Christian gifts – the kind that are designed to bring you closer together, represent your faith and love for one another. So, what is the secret to expressing your love and commitment? Check out these three inspirational items that are virtually free and more meaningful than that gift from Tiffany’s:

  1. Active Listening - it seems simple enough, right? But do you really listen to what your significant other is saying? Do you verbally recognize the things your significant other is doing? Taking time to actively listen is one of the best quality gifts you can give your partner to let him or her know you empathize with what he or she is going through and that you appreciate that he or she is sharing their thoughts with you.
  2. Encouraging Words – nothing brings a couple closer than knowing they are each other’s biggest fan. When you sing his or her praises in front of friends and family, you show your partner how much you admire and respect him or her. Pick one quality, accomplishment, or gesture and lift him or her up.
  3. Let Go – remember that argument you had six months ago where your partner did – insert negative action here…Harboring resentment, turning a cold shoulder and engaging in the “silent treatment” represents a passive-aggressive fight. It is neither productive nor Christ-like and can be quite detrimental to a relationship. Instead, let it go. When you’re tempted to bring up that awful thing your partner did in the past, stop, push through it and let it go.  Stay open and stay honest and work through it. Remember, it’s all small stuff.

Think about the unique needs of your partner and your relationship. How can you support both through your God-given quality Christian gifts? What would it look like to actively listen, use encouraging words and let go of grudges and, instead, bring vulnerability into the places where you most want to shut-off, turn off, or control?

And, when it seems like you just can’t, remember one of the most often quoted and inspirational verses in the Bible: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
